Philippe Diallo, President of the French Football Federation (FFF), met with the national team players about three weeks before the World Cup to request a reduction in tournament bonuses. Diallo stated that FIFA's prize money was lower than expected, the exchange rate between the dollar and euro was unfavorable to the federation, and the organization costs would be high. Some players understood that this request was aimed at protecting the federation's financial situation, but it caused some confusion within the national team. Especially, the fact that such a request came after the bonuses were doubled four months ago was questioned by the players. The FFF has been seeking savings across all national teams in recent months to balance the budget. While cuts have also been made in coaching and other departments, it was expected that the A team would not be affected during this process. The parties will meet again at the training camp starting on May 28. Currently, no agreement has been reached and the final decision regarding the bonuses is awaited.
