Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek made statements on the club’s sporting and institutional goals at the regular October council meeting held at RAMS Park.
Referring to the 121st anniversary of Galatasaray’s founding, Özbek said Ali Sami Yen and his colleagues laid the foundations of the club at Galatasaray High School with the aim of pioneering Turkish sport, representing the country in the best possible way and defeating teams from outside Türkiye. Özbek said they must carry this legacy further for future generations.
The target is a fifth consecutive championship
Stating that last season’s 26th championship was a great source of pride, Özbek said past achievements could not stand in the way of new targets. He said Galatasaray’s goals were a 27th championship and a fifth consecutive league title.
Özbek said they wanted to carry the success and consistency achieved in Türkiye into Europe, adding that he believed they would mount a campaign in the UEFA Champions League befitting the club’s name, history and ambitions. The president said they trusted head coach Okan Buruk, the technical staff and the players.

Facility and academy projects
Özbek said they were focusing on the Aslantepe Valley project to shape Galatasaray’s future, adding that construction of an academy building and four football pitches was continuing at the facilities in Kemerburgaz.
Özbek said there had been a delay in the work in Kemerburgaz and that it was not caused by the club’s efforts. He said there had been delays in the signing process with the relevant municipality, but an agreement had been reached as of the previous day and preparations for the academy building had been completed.
Galatasaray raises targets in amateur sports and youth development
Stating that developing athletes through the youth system was among their priorities alongside winning trophies, Özbek said the new season was important for the amateur sports branches. He said they wanted to compete ambitiously in every field where the Galatasaray jersey was present.

Özbek said they did not define success solely by the trophies won at the end of the season, adding that they had to develop athletes through the youth system, give young people the opportunity to wear the Galatasaray jersey and make the club financially sustainable.
Call for the general assembly
Stating that Galatasaray had entered an important period for its future, Özbek said they were working to complete the facilities and increase revenues while competing for success in Türkiye and Europe. He said they aimed to prepare not only for the club’s present but also for its future.
Özbek invited members to the annual ordinary general assembly meeting to be held the following Saturday. Saying that general assemblies were important to Galatasaray’s democratic tradition and culture of collective decision-making, Özbek expressed his expectation of higher attendance at the meetings.
Emphasizing that unity and solidarity must be preserved to pass Galatasaray on to future generations in a strong position, Özbek said different views could be expressed but that Galatasaray was the club’s common ground. He said they wanted to lead the club together to the success it deserved.
