The lawsuit against Halkbank in the US has been completely concluded with the approval of the Southern District Court of New York. This brought an end to the judicial process that lasted for 9 years.
The case was initiated in 2019 on allegations that US sanctions against Iran were circumvented through Halkbank. Throughout the process, various legal steps were taken between the bank and the US Department of Justice Southern District Prosecutor's Office.
On June 10, 2026, the parties submitted a joint petition, and subsequently in March 2026, under the Deferred Prosecution Agreement, it was stated that the bank did not admit to any wrongdoing nor paid any fines.
Following the court decision, Halkbank's shares increased. The bank's stock rose more than 4%, reaching 51 lira.
