Hezbollah condemned the Israeli army's attack on civilians in the southern Lebanese city of Nabatiyeh. The party stated the attack was a 'clear violation' of the ceasefire agreement.
Details of the attack
According to a statement by Hezbollah, Israeli soldiers opened fire with machine guns from between houses at a group of civilians in Nabatiyeh's Deyr neighborhood who were busy clearing roads and retrieving bodies from under rubble. Two civilians, including a municipal worker, were killed in this attack, and several others were wounded.
The Lebanese official news agency had previously announced that the Israeli army opened fire on people conducting road clearance work in the town of Upper Nabatiyeh, killing two and wounding one in that attack.
Israeli claims and other incidents
The Israeli army claimed in a statement that its forces detected an 'armed cell' near their position in the security zone near the 'Ali Tahir' hills. According to the claim, an attack was launched north of the area to neutralize this threat.
In another violation, Israeli soldiers opened fire on residents of the town of Hadatha who were heading to a cemetery for a funeral under the escort of the Lebanese army. Furthermore, three 'Merkava' tanks and a 'D9' type bulldozer were observed deployed near the town's cemetery.
Elsewhere, sound bombs were dropped by Israel near the town of Ayta el-Jebel.
