Interpol-wanted suspect caught at Istanbul Airport
R. A., wanted by Interpol, was apprehended at Istanbul Airport. Iranian judicial authorities had issued an arrest warrant for the suspect, and extradition proceedings are ongoing.
R. A. (28), a suspect wanted by Interpol, was apprehended at Istanbul Airport on June 14, 2026, as part of operations carried out by the Istanbul Police Department's Istanbul Airport Branch Directorate. An investigation conducted by the Anti-Migrant Smuggling and Border Gates Branch Directorate determined that the suspect was wanted by Iranian judicial authorities.
During the inquiry, it was established that R. A. had restriction records for drug offenses, smuggling crimes, and violations related to visas, residence, and work permits. The extradition process for the apprehended suspect to the relevant country is ongoing.
