Iranian President Pezeshkian said the Mecca Defense Agreement signed by Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan could be a positive step toward Muslim unity.
Pezeshkian assessed developments in the region, negotiations between the United States and Iran, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran's relations with regional countries.
Assessment of the Mecca Defense Agreement
Asked whether the agreement was directed against Iran, Pezeshkian said the step could contribute to Muslims standing together and achieving Islamic unity rather than conflict.
Pezeshkian described the agreement as a positive step forward for Muslim unity.
They do not trust negotiations with the United States
The Iranian president said they did not trust Washington regarding the negotiations with the United States. Pezeshkian said they were waiting for the United States to clarify its position on Iran's latest proposal and that they did not know on what basis an agreement could be reached.
Pezeshkian announced that Qatar and Pakistan, which are mediating, had conveyed Iran's messages to Washington. He said the talks were based on a memorandum of understanding reached between the two sides in June.
The situation in the Strait of Hormuz
Rejecting accusations that Iran was responsible for closing the Strait of Hormuz, Pezeshkian argued that the transit routes in the strait had been closed to Iran. He described the closure of the strait as a natural response to the cutting off of Iran's routes.

Iranian President Pezeshkian: "If the United States returns to its commitments, Iran will also take immediate action"
Pezeshkian said the Strait of Hormuz could be reopened to commercial vessels if the war ends through negotiations. Calling the United States the aggressor in the war, Pezeshkian claimed that Iran had not attacked any country for approximately two hundred years.
Regional security and the Houthis
Pezeshkian said regional security should be ensured through cooperation among regional countries and that there was no need for a regional police force. He claimed that the United States and Israel were trying to control the region's resources by using regional countries against one another.
Pezeshkian said Saudi Arabia could play a role in achieving unity in the Muslim world.
Referring also to the clashes between the Houthis in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, Pezeshkian argued that there was no connection between the Houthis' actions and Iran. Calling for problems to be resolved through dialogue, Pezeshkian said Muslims should not fight one another.
Iran's domestic political situation
Pezeshkian said Iran was experiencing unprecedented unity and solidarity and that they were working to overcome the problems that had accumulated in the country.
Pezeshkian also claimed that the United States and Israel were trying to prevent Iran from becoming self-sufficient and said the Iranian people would continue to hold on to life.
