Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Iraki called on US forces to leave the region, warning that any attack or threat would not go unanswered. Iraki reiterated the security warning through a social media post and a separate statement.
Iraki accused the US of "testing their resolve" and emphasized that Iran's armed forces would respond to any attack. Delivering the message "Leave the region if you want to be safe," Iraki said they are well-versed in diplomatic language but can also speak in other languages.
Response to US Attack
These statements came after the US Central Command announced it had launched a preemptive strike against Iran. The command claimed the attack was an "appropriate response to an unprovoked Iranian aggression."
Iranian media also reported hearing several explosions near the country's southern coasts, close to the Strait of Hormuz. Iraki argued that the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding areas pose risks for foreign forces and said these forces should leave the region.
Message on the Strait of Hormuz
Iraki also stated that the Strait of Hormuz is not an international waterway but a shared area between Iran and Oman. He noted that the presence of foreign forces near the region constantly creates danger due to possible accidents and misunderstandings arising from their own mistakes.
The Iranian minister hardened his tone by saying, "The best way to reduce risks is to leave." In the same message, he reiterated that Iran can communicate not only through diplomacy but also through other means.
Trump Responds Strongly
US President Donald Trump said in a television interview that a very strong response would be given to the nighttime attack. Trump emphasized that the response should be "very strong and very effective."
The attacks occurred just hours after Trump stated that negotiations had reached the final stage. This timing made the tension between Washington and Tehran even more visible.
Tensions Between Iran and the US Escalate
Another notable detail in the news was the Apache helicopter, referred to as the second American aircraft shot down by Iran during the conflict. It was also recalled that an F-15 jet had been downed earlier in April.
The Central Command confirmed that two personnel located off the coast of Oman were rescued shortly afterward with the support of an unmanned maritime vehicle and that their health conditions are good. These reciprocal statements indicate that tensions in the region have entered a new phase.
