The Israeli military announced that one of its soldiers was killed and seven others were injured in southern Lebanon. According to a brief statement from the army, 29-year-old Sergeant Alexander Filin lost his life in the clashes.
The statement noted that one officer, one reserve officer, and one reserve soldier were moderately wounded. Additionally, one combat sergeant, two reserve soldiers, and one female reserve soldier sustained minor injuries.
In Lebanon, the official news agency reported that a drone attack on a vehicle in the southern Kfar Tebnit area resulted in one death and one person seriously injured. The attack came after an agreement signed between the U.S. and Iran aimed at ending the war in the Middle East.
The agreement signed by Washington and Tehran on Wednesday sought to halt frontline conflicts. Nevertheless, Israel's efforts to maintain its presence in Lebanon and the impact of this presence on the course of the war have emerged as a new source of tension in the region.
Lebanon was drawn into the conflict after the Iran-backed Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel on March 2 in support of Iran. Since then, thousands have died in Israeli attacks, with a fragile ceasefire in place but attacks on the ground not fully stopped.
Lebanese authorities reported that over 3,800 people have died so far in Israel's extensive air strikes and ground operations. The Israeli side stated that since the start of the ground operation in Lebanon, 31 soldiers and one civilian contractor have lost their lives.
The Beirut administration says more than 10,000 people have been injured in the attacks and over one million have been displaced within the country. The United Nations has reiterated calls to stop the attacks in Lebanon, highlighting a deepening humanitarian crisis in a country already suffering from years of economic downturn and energy and telecommunications shortages.
