Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has abandoned his planned visit to the United States due to complications in the visa process.
According to reports in the Israeli press, Ben-Gvir applied for a visa at the US Embassy to attend the wedding of the daughter of Israeli businessman Yaakov Elharar and to hold a diplomatic meeting.
Following the application, it was noted that Ben-Gvir was invited to the embassy to provide fingerprints as part of the visa procedures. Subsequently, he canceled his trip to the US.
Israeli media emphasized that Ben-Gvir, like other ministers, is entitled to a diplomatic visa, yet the embassy applied an unusual procedure by requesting his fingerprints.
The incident has sparked new debates in Israel and diplomatic circles regarding how the visa process is conducted.
