Justice Minister Akın Gürlek did not answer journalists' questions regarding the strip search practice following the AK Party Group Meeting. In response to the question, Gürlek only said, "I have a meeting at the Ministry."
The question arose after Media AŞ General Manager Fatoş Pınar Türker spoke about the practices she was subjected to during her detention. Türker described experiencing a strip search during her defense in the İBB trial.
Fatoş Pınar Türker’s Account
Türker stated that a female officer took her to a small room resembling an archive and first asked her to remove her upper clothes. Then she was asked to take off her tracksuit, underwear, and later to squat.
In her statement, Türker also said she was asked to expose her genital area and told to bend her head forward and turn her back. She noted that the officer wore gloves but not using them made her feel somewhat relieved.
Türker described the practice as humiliating, saying, "Those who conduct such searches should be ashamed; I am not." She also compared the experience to a gynecological examination in her defense.
Alleged Meeting with the Prosecutor
Türker claimed that during a meeting arranged by the prosecutor after her arrest, she was subjected to harsh words. She said threatening remarks were made regarding her children.
According to Türker, the prosecutor said, "With this mindset, you will never see your children again," referring to custody of her children. Türker emphasized that such words should never be said to a mother.
Gürlek’s refusal to answer journalists’ questions has brought Türker’s allegations back into the spotlight. There is no other statement on the matter in this report.
