New developments have occurred in the ongoing legal battle among the lead actors and producers of the 2024 film "It Ends With Us." Blake Lively accused Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment on set and claimed that the production company Wayfarer Studios retaliated against her. Baldoni and the company deny these allegations. Although U.S. District Court Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed 10 of Lively's 13 claims, the case will continue in May for allegations of breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding retaliation.
Justin Baldoni's lawyers have filed a motion to exclude evidence related to the experiences of other women such as Jenny Slate and Colleen Hoover from being used in court. Baldoni's file states that this evidence consists of "minor conflicts, inappropriate comments, and perceived discomfort." It was noted that Jenny Slate was uncomfortable with some comments Baldoni made toward her on set, but this was resolved through producer Alex Saks, and Slate expressed that the issues were addressed. Colleen Hoover, although the film's writer, was not present on set and is not directly related to Lively's working environment, so it was requested that her evidence not be included.
The file also argued that allegations from other women who worked with Baldoni on different projects differ from Lively's claims and are not directly connected to the case. The lawyers stated that this evidence could confuse the core of the case and mislead the jury. Baldoni's team claims that Lively presented this evidence "to make Baldoni and his team look bad." The court is expected to continue evaluating these requests when the case proceeds in May.
