In Diyarbakır, Kayapınar Municipality announced the cancellation of a vehicle purchase from Otosan due to racist and sexist remarks made by Koç Holding Honorary Chairman Rahmi Koç targeting Kurdish women. The municipality's statement included the following: "As Kayapınar Municipality, we do not accept degrading and discriminatory remarks aimed at Kurdish women.
We clearly express that we stand against such approaches with a perspective that prioritizes women's freedom and equality among peoples.
While the procurement process for 11 Otosan-produced Tourneo Courier vehicles, intended for municipal use, was nearing completion, it has been canceled due to the public backlash against Rahmi Koç's statements targeting Kurdish women. This decision reflects the women’s freedom-oriented local governance approach of the DEM Party.
Kurdish women have been a leading force in the struggle for freedom and democracy and have played a decisive role in building an equal and democratic life. They will not remain silent in the face of any approach that targets their dignity." (MEZOPOTAMYA AGENCY).
