Fazıl Mirani, Chairman of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Executive Committee, stated that most political problems in the Kurdistan Region can be resolved by prioritizing public interests over partisan and personal calculations.
Speaking at a press conference held in Erbil, Mirani shared his views on the relations between political parties and the future of the political process in the Kurdistan Region. He emphasized that the people have made great sacrifices for political powers, and these sacrifices should be met by maintaining stability and delivering services.
Support for the Call to Dialogue
Mirani described President Masoud Barzani's initiative to overcome the ongoing political deadlock as an important step. He noted that this move has been effective in reviving dialogue among political actors and has received positive responses from some political forces.
In his Eid al-Adha message, Barzani also called on political parties in Kurdistan to leave competition behind and engage in sincere dialogue to resolve the impasse. In his message dated May 26, he stated that talks should begin immediately after the holiday.
Expected Attitude from Parties
According to Mirani, the main obstacle to political consensus is parties placing their own interests above broader social and national interests. The KDP official stressed that expectations on political leaders are high, making joint work essential to maintain stability and improve governance efficiency.
Mirani argued that if political actors prioritize the people's interests over personal and partisan calculations, the vast majority of problems can be overcome. As discussions about the future of the political process continue, Barzani's call and Mirani's statements have once again highlighted the need for dialogue and reconciliation.
