No rain is expected throughout the weekend at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix. According to initial weather forecasts, sunny and warm conditions will prevail on the track for all three days.
After light rain earlier in the week around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Montmelo, temperatures are expected to rise. On Friday, the temperature is forecast to remain around 29 degrees Celsius throughout the day, accompanied by a light breeze.
A similar outlook is expected for Saturday. Temperatures are predicted to reach 30 degrees Celsius, with the light wind continuing to affect the track.
The warm weather will present a significant challenge for teams, especially in terms of tire management. The Barcelona circuit is known as one of the tracks that puts the most strain on the front-left tire.
Warm and Clear Weather Expected on Sunday
No changes are anticipated for Sunday. The chance of rain remains at zero percent throughout the weekend, with temperatures rising up to 31 degrees Celsius.
Therefore, the entire race weekend in Catalonia will be sunny and warm. As the day progresses, the track surface will heat up further, which will be a key factor not only for race pace but also for tire durability.
Rain Is Rare at the Barcelona Circuit
Rain rarely plays a decisive role during race weekends at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit. However, the 1996 Spanish Grand Prix is remembered as one of Formula 1’s most unforgettable rain races.
In that race, Michael Schumacher delivered an outstanding performance under challenging conditions, securing his first victory with Ferrari and crossing the finish line about 45 seconds ahead of Jean Alesi.
On the other hand, the track’s layout and high temperatures often lead to significant tire wear in Barcelona. Especially since the last corner became a high-speed right-hander, tire management throughout the race has become even more critical for teams.
