Kia has completed its fully electric lineup with the EV2, entering the compact segment as well. Although designed primarily for urban use in the European market, the model is also suitable for longer journeys.
Built with the brand’s Opposites United design language, the EV2 stands out with its mature lines, high-quality interior, and comprehensive technological equipment. The vehicle is manufactured at the factory in Žilina, Slovakia.
Design and Interior
The front of the EV2 features vertically arranged dual headlights. Strong side lines give the car an almost SUV-like presence, while the rear lighting elements are positioned in the lower section.
The interior offers a spacious cabin comfortably accommodating four passengers. The front console houses a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. A 5.3-inch screen in the center is dedicated to climate control settings.
Technical Structure and Battery Options
The Kia EV2 is built on the 400-volt E-GMP modular platform. It offers two battery options: a 42.2 kWh LFP chemistry Standard Range and a 61 kWh NMC chemistry Long Range. Production of the larger battery version will begin in June.
The Standard Range version is powered by a synchronous electric motor producing 147 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. This front-wheel-drive model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 161 km/h.
Range, Charging, and Usage Features
The EV2 Standard Range has an average energy consumption of 15.1 kWh/100 km. Its combined range is declared as 317 kilometers. The model supports AC charging at 11 to 22 kW and DC fast charging at 150 kW.
Thanks to fast charging support, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in 29 to 30 minutes. The vehicle also features a vehicle-to-load function up to 3.6 kW, usable both from the interior socket and the charging connection.
Dimensions, Cargo Space, and Driving Modes
The EV2 measures 4,060 millimeters in length, 1,800 millimeters in width, and 1,575 millimeters in height. With a wheelbase of 2,565 millimeters, the vehicle’s curb weight is 1,645 kilograms.
The trunk capacity is 362 liters, expanding up to 1,201 liters with the rear seats folded down. There is also a small 15-liter storage compartment in the front for charging cables.
On the driver’s side, five driving modes are available: Eco, Normal, Sport, Snow, and My Drive. The regenerative braking level can be adjusted using two paddles behind the steering wheel.
