On the night of June 2, Sony held a State of Play presentation with many announcements closely followed by the gaming world. The event revealed both new projects and new details about previously announced titles.

- A new God of War spin-off was confirmed.
- A new gameplay segment for Marvel’s Wolverine was shown.
- A release schedule was shared for the sequel to the Control series.
- New information also came from the fronts of Silent Hill, Dune: Awakening, and Until Dawn.
A new story in the God of War universe
The long-rumored new God of War project was confirmed to be in development. The game will focus on Kratos’ wife Laufey and tell a story set after her death following the 2018 reboot.
It was stated that the production will center on conflicts taking place in a life beyond the gods. The announcements emphasized that Faye has always been positioned as a strong warrior within the story.
The game's release date has not yet been finalized. However, it was announced that Bear McCreary, known for the God of War music, will return to the project. Deborah Ann Woll will portray the character Faye; Jack Quaid will voice a cube-shaped character named Phranque.
New footage for Marvel’s Wolverine
A new gameplay video for Marvel’s Wolverine was also shown during the presentation. The game is planned to be released on September 15.
The game takes place in a world where the X-Men are absent and mutants are hunted by Bolivar Trask. Trask is described as a billionaire industrialist fanatically believing in human superiority.
It was conveyed that Jean Grey and other familiar faces will also be part of Wolverine’s journey. The new footage highlighted the combat and stealth aspects of the production.
The Control series returns
The sequel to Control, released in 2019, also took the stage at the event. The production announced as Control Resonant is expected to be released for PlayStation users on September 24.
The new game will take place in a differentiated version of Manhattan filled with supernatural powers. This time, the story will be built around Dylan, the brother of Jesse, the main character of the first game.
It was told that Dylan wakes up from a coma after being trapped inside his own mind for years and tries to find his way in a world unfamiliar to him. Jesse’s disappearance will be one of the main tension points of the story for him.
Context: The presentation marked a busy period in terms of game schedules. The Xbox summer event being held on June 7 increased expectations that Nintendo might also make a new presentation.
