The CHP Central Executive Board (MYK) convened at the party headquarters under the chairmanship of Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. CHP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Müslim Sarı made a statement regarding the MYK agenda. Sarı said the meeting progressed within two main frameworks, stating, "One of them was evaluations related to the agenda, assessments concerning Turkey's current affairs.
The other was inward-looking evaluations concerning the party itself. Especially assessments about the current state of our party and possible roadmaps," he said. Sarı argued that inflation rates in Turkey will not stay below 30% for a long time, explaining, "Because an election is approaching.
Turkey will head to an election sometime in 2027, maybe at the end of 2026, but essentially by the end of 2027. As the election approaches, an election economy will be implemented, and we will enter a period where budget deficits will increase. Therefore, interest rates and credit conditions will be loosened.
This will cause inflation to surge significantly in an effort to boost growth through demand in Turkey. Consequently, we have no good news for broad segments of society. The upcoming period will be one where civil servants, retirees, and minimum wage earners will be more adversely affected by inflation. This can be predicted from today," he assessed.

Add us as a preferred source on Google Sarı recalled that he had previously said they started working to eliminate the de facto situation within the party, stating, "We proposed forming a delegation from our side, including former members, to reflect their ideas and ours, and to discuss a roadmap that would lead the party out of this squeeze within the framework of current legal rules and put a congress on the agenda. However, I regret to see that despite our persistent stance, we are still in the same place. As the management of the Republican People's Party, led by our Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, we remain open to dialogue and discussion.
But shortly after we made these statements, some of our colleagues made remarks that were somewhat inconsistent with this spirit, including harsh statements. Despite all this, I want to emphasize that the door to dialogue remains open," he said.
‘GOOD-FAITH TALKS CONTINUE’ Sarı said that some party members have been meeting with both sides on their own initiative, explaining, "Three of our deputies, senior politicians who previously held important positions in the party, have been shuttling between CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Özgür Özel.
Other prominent former party officials have also been involved in this shuttle diplomacy. These talks are ongoing but have not yet produced a consensus, I want to clarify. Good-faith discussions continue. Also, as you know, three important metropolitan mayors met with Kılıçdaroğlu this week.
They were also supposed to meet with Özgür Özel, but we do not know if that meeting took place. Additionally, as a good-faith initiative, former management members requested a meeting by connecting one of their lawyers with one of ours. We view this request positively, and this meeting will take place in the coming days.
Therefore, these good-faith talks are ongoing. Dialogue is not completely closed or ended," he said. ‘WE WILL REVIEW FILES INDIVIDUALLY’ Regarding the approach to those expelled from the party in previous terms, Sarı said, "There is a misunderstanding in the public about this issue that I want to correct.
It has been perceived as if the Disciplinary Board convened and annulled the expulsion decisions made by the previous administration, and that all these expelled members automatically rejoined the Republican People's Party. Let me clarify this misconception.
The Disciplinary Board made a principle decision stating that decisions made by a board that has become absolutely invalid should be considered null and void in principle. However, it recommended re-examining these files cumulatively, not accepting all files outright but reviewing them again.
We will evaluate this in the coming days, but we will assess each file individually. Ultimately, if there are expulsions we cannot accept, we will enforce those expulsion mechanisms; if there are decisions we believe were unjust in the past, we will restore their rights," he said.
‘WE ARE TAKING NOTE OF EVERYTHING’ On how they will proceed regarding Kılıçdaroğlu’s call for cleansing, Sarı said, "We will not treat intra-party conflicts or struggles that we see as part of internal competition as disciplinary issues. We have no such intention.
The Republican People's Party has always been part of a culture of objection, which we have experienced in the past, and we remain in the same position. We want to operate intra-party democracy. But we have red lines. I have previously said that we are noting any actions that cross these red lines.
Statements and actions that damage the party’s institutional identity harm the Republican People's Party and its institutional character. Everyone, especially our Chairman, and those who have served or previously served in the party, must comply. We have a principle decision on this matter.
We will implement our processes within this framework. We are monitoring and taking note of everything," he said. ‘OUR DECISIONS ON THE GROUP MEETING ARE FINAL’ On whether Kılıçdaroğlu will speak at the group meeting on Tuesday, Sarı said, "Our regulations on political parties clearly state that the group chairman works under the general chairman.
This is an important legal argument. I am briefly mentioning these points, but there are other subtopics I do not want to elaborate on. We also state that these group elections were irregular. As you know, group elections must be conducted according to certain procedures, including agenda, timing, and formal requirements, which were not met.
We have informed the Turkish Grand National Assembly that we do not accept these group elections, both last week and this week. There are many legal arguments, but I do not want to delve into legal matters. Politically, I can tell you that CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu will deliver the group speech and hold the group meeting at the Turkish Grand National Assembly on Tuesday.
Our decisions on this matter are final," he stated. ‘THE UPCOMING PERIOD IS CRUCIAL’ Regarding Kilis Mayor Hakan Bilecen’s resignation from the party, Sarı said, "We learned that an investigation was initiated in Kilis in the past. We also learned that this mayor had contacts and held some meetings with the AKP.
He stated in his announcement that he would remain somewhat independent, as far as I can see. We have not yet made a detailed assessment on this matter. But the part of your question that is important to me is this:
This is an indicator of how much we need to avoid political debates that would demotivate our party’s authorized bodies, mayors, deputies, provincial heads, and our organization. The Republican People's Party urgently needs to regroup and move beyond such disputes.
The upcoming period is extremely important. Time is precious and valuable. I believe we should manage this process together without causing new divisions," he concluded.
