Kuwait has condemned Iran's repeated attacks on its territory, describing today's incident as a new escalation targeting the country's security and stability.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that these attacks jeopardize civilian lives and vital facilities. The statement indicated that these repeated actions reflect a deliberate and aggressive stance.
Emphasis on International Law
The ministry stated that the attacks constitute a clear violation of Kuwait's sovereignty and breach the United Nations Charter and international legal norms. It also noted that such actions undermine efforts to reduce tensions and strengthen stability in the region.
Kuwait declared its reserved right to take all necessary measures to protect its national security and defend its territory and critical facilities. It stressed that these measures will comply with international law and the United Nations Charter.
Previous Attacks in the Region
The statement recalled that Iran had previously launched missile and drone attacks on areas in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan's Zarqa governorate. These attacks were intercepted by air defense systems in the three countries, with no injuries reported.
Kuwait's response highlights renewed debates over security and sovereignty in the Gulf, signaling a hardening of the rhetoric surrounding regional tensions.
