Charles Leclerc secured his future in Formula 1 with the Maranello-based team by signing a new contract with Ferrari for the long term. The renewal announced before the Monaco Grand Prix is seen as Leclerc stepping into a period with Ferrari that could extend into the 2030s.
Ferrari did not go into details when announcing the deal and only stated that Leclerc will continue to carry the team's colors in the coming seasons. However, it is noted that this renewal takes the contract a step further for Leclerc, whose current contract is known to last until 2029.
Highlights

- The announcement was made before the Monaco Grand Prix.
- Ferrari did not disclose the details of the renewal to the public.
- Leclerc said he wants to continue his career at Ferrari.
Long-term plan at Ferrari
Leclerc's decision came during a period when Ferrari did not start the season at the desired level. Despite Mercedes standing out in the main races and Ferrari's SF-26 car lagging in power and straight-line performance, Leclerc's choice to stay with the team drew attention.
This move is also linked to Leclerc seeing limited options with other teams. On the Mercedes side, George Russell and Kimi Antonelli are at the center of the current plan for next season, while on the McLaren side, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are tied to long-term contracts.
Leclerc: Ferrari is a family to me
After the new deal, Leclerc expressed great satisfaction in continuing his journey with Ferrari. The driver emphasized that Ferrari has been a dream team for him since childhood and over the years has become like a second family.
Leclerc also stated that the team has experienced both good and difficult times together, yet he believes in Ferrari more than ever. His goal is to continue working with his teammates to bring the world championship back to Maranello.
Ferrari career grows
Leclerc joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2016, won the Formula 2 championship in 2017, and debuted in Formula 1 with Sauber the following year. The Monegasque driver, who moved up to Ferrari in 2019, ranks only behind Michael Schumacher in the number of grand prix starts for the team.
If he completes his contract as it stands, Leclerc is expected to surpass this record. Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur said the deal was a natural step for them and that Leclerc has become not only a strong driver over the years but also a name fully compatible with the team structure.
Eyes on the second seat
As Leclerc's future becomes clear, attention at Ferrari now turns to the second seat. Although Lewis Hamilton's contract duration has not been officially announced, the seven-time world champion said at the last Canadian Grand Prix that he is determined to stay with the team at least until the end of 2027.
Hamilton stated that everything is clear for next season and that he is still motivated to race, also openly expressing that he will remain involved in the sport for some time. Thus, the long-term picture in Ferrari's driver lineup is becoming increasingly clear.
