Operating in the energy sector since 2018, Metgün Enerji has reached a total installed capacity of 274.44 megawatts with facilities in six different provinces: Ankara, Konya, Artvin, Burdur, Kahramanmaraş and Kırklareli. The company continues its green energy investments with a production portfolio consisting of wind, solar and hydroelectric power plants.
By minimizing the risks of seasonal fluctuations thanks to diversity on the production side, the company contributes to Turkey's domestic energy supply security by feeding the electricity it generates into the national grid.
2.7 billion lira raised from public offering
Metgün Enerji General Manager Uğur Işık stated in an interview with an AA correspondent that they are investing in renewable energy with a diversified portfolio of wind, solar and hydroelectric power plants, and that the company contributes to Turkey's supply security with the energy it produces.
Işık said that they raised 2.7 billion lira through the public offering process, and that they will use 80 to 90 percent of this resource for new renewable energy investments, while allocating 10 to 20 percent as working capital.
Pointing out that their energy portfolio creates an advantage in overcoming seasonal effects in renewable energy projects, Işık emphasized that 70 percent of the installed capacity is covered by the Renewable Energy Resources Support Mechanism (YEKDEM). Işık noted that thanks to this, they sell 70 percent of the energy produced with a fixed-price purchase guarantee, which provides great predictability in their revenues.
Highlighting the importance of working capital in renewable energy plants, Işık said: 'Since the energy we produce comes from renewable sources, it is used with priority in the system. Therefore, in a sector without market concerns, our income and expenses are clear, and our cash flow is predictable. Our advantage also increases our predictability compared to the sector.'
Installed capacity to quadruple by 2030
Regarding the company's future targets, Işık said: 'We want to increase our current installed capacity of 274 megawatts to 1,000 megawatts by 2030. We will do this through renewable energy investments, primarily wind and solar.'
Işık stated that they also plan to invest in storage-integrated plants domestically, aiming to solve the constraints related to the continuity of renewable energy sources with storage facilities. Işık added: 'When we hopefully quadruple our capacity to 1,000 megawatts by 2030, we will have taken a very beneficial step for our country's supply security.'
In line with the company's medium and long-term goals, it plans to focus on new wind and solar power plant installations, as well as storage energy technologies and hybrid projects to support the continuity of renewable energy.
