Gürlek said that, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, they had strengthened national and international cooperation in the fight against crime and criminals, adding that extradition procedures were being closely monitored.

Georgia leads extraditions
Of those extradited to Türkiye over the past 1.5 months, 24 were brought from Georgia, 8 from Germany and 6 from Greece. Gürlek said significant results had also been achieved in the fight against organized crime groups.
Developments in two cases
Gürlek announced that F. D., the leader of the Redkitler criminal organization, was extradited to Türkiye on August 13, 2026, in one of the cases that had been under investigation for a long time.
Gürlek also said that a decision had been made to extradite S. K., an executive of the Camgözler criminal organization whose extradition from Argentina had been requested in 2020, to Türkiye. He said that, following the Foreign Ministry's notification dated July 28, 2026, coordination between the Interior and Foreign ministries had been established on July 31 and a travel program had been arranged to bring S. K. to Türkiye.
Gürlek said that S. K. was taken into custody in Argentina on August 13 and that the person's arrival in Istanbul was planned for the night.
Gürlek said that people who commit crimes and flee abroad will not escape Turkish justice, and thanked the authorities of the institutions and countries cooperating in extradition and mutual legal assistance procedures.
