The incident occurred around 01:00 on July 25 in an apartment in the Kışla neighborhood of the Yüreğir district. Hamza Eren Kocamaz went to the home of his wife, Hatice Mine Kocamaz, a civil servant at Pozantı Municipality who had filed for divorce due to severe incompatibility and whom he had been insisting on withdrawing the case. Hamza Eren Kocamaz covered his wife's face with a pillow and then shot her in the head with a pistol.

The lifeless body of Hatice Mine Kocamaz, who died at the scene, was taken to the morgue of the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute after crime scene investigation teams completed their work. He was caught 30 minutes after the murder. After the incident, teams from the Homicide Bureau under the Public Order Branch launched efforts to capture Hamza Eren Kocamaz, who had fled.

Teams examining the City Security Management System (KGYS) and surrounding security cameras determined the suspect's escape route. Following the trail, Kocamaz was detained approximately 30 minutes after the murder at the address where he was hiding. 'He killed my sister in front of her daughter.' The brother of Hatice Mine Kocamaz, Yılmaz Yılgıncan, who went to the morgue to receive her body, said, 'They had a mountain of debts. Due to the debts, severe incompatibility began within the family, and a divorce case was filed. The divorce case turned contentious, and things happened. He was a gambler. He killed my sister in front of my 7-year-old niece.' The body of Hatice Mine, mother of one child, was buried by her family at Buruk Cemetery.

She opened the door after hearing her daughter's voice. It was revealed that on the day of the incident, Hamza Eren Kocamaz went to the home of his wife, who was in the process of divorce, under the pretense of dropping off their daughter E. Y. K., who had been staying with him for a while, and made her open the door by having his daughter call out. It was stated that Kocamaz, after entering the house, struggled with his wife in the living room, covered her face with a pillow, and killed her in front of their daughter.

It was learned that after the murder, Kocamaz took his daughter with him and left her at his sister's house, then went to the address where he hid. His statement was chilling. In his interrogation at the police station, Kocamaz said, 'I loved my wife, I just wanted to talk to her to make her withdraw the case. I committed the murder in a moment of anger. I wish it hadn't happened, I regret it.' After the procedures, Kocamaz was referred to the courthouse and was arrested by the court. Meanwhile, E.Y.K. was taken under state protection by the Adana Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services.
