Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan met with business representatives in Bartın. Işıkhan said they will resolutely continue steps to pave the way for production, investment and employment.
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan met with business representatives at the "Working Life Meetings in the Century of Türkiye" program held in the Amasra district of Bartın.
Işıkhan stated that they attach importance to visiting cities, meeting directly with business representatives, and listening to the needs on the ground firsthand. He noted that seeing the on-the-ground impact of every policy they produce regarding working life and strengthening their roadmaps with opinions and suggestions is important to them.
Pointing out that Bartın is one of the country's most important cities with its strong port opening to the Black Sea on one side, its industrial and commercial potential, agricultural and forestry accumulation, the historical and tourism richness of Amasra, and the unique natural heritage of the Küre Mountains, Işıkhan explained that Bartın, which draws attention with its production capacity as much as its natural beauties, reflects its potential onto the Turkish economy more strongly with each passing day.
The role of the business world in global competition
Drawing attention to the fact that we are going through a period of increasing competition and intensifying uncertainties in the global economy, Işıkhan said:
In such periods, the most important strength of countries is the business world that produces, invests, and creates employment. As you grow your businesses, you are building the future of the cities you live in, contributing to the livelihoods of families, and supporting the development of our country.
Emphasizing that under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as the Ministry, they continue to resolutely implement policies that will pave the way for employers, increase citizens' employment, and strengthen working life, Işıkhan announced that the employment rate in the TR-81 Region, which includes Bartın, is 46.7 percent and the labor force participation rate is 52 percent. He stated that approximately 28 percent of employment being in industry and more than half in the service sector reveals the balanced economic structure of the region.
Employment mobilization in Bartın through İŞKUR
Touching on the work carried out in Bartın through İŞKUR, Işıkhan said that while only 118 people were placed in jobs in 2002, this number rose to 3,626 in 2025. Stating that a total of 52,917 Bartın residents have been brought into employment from 2002 to the present, Işıkhan emphasized that the submission of 2,043 open job requests by employers to İŞKUR in the first 5 months of this year clearly demonstrates the vitality of production and investment in Bartın.
Noting that the most important element of sustainable development is a qualified workforce, Işıkhan reported that to date, 19,283 people in Bartın have benefited from active labor force programs, 7,834 people have gained new skills through vocational training courses, and 9,600 people have stepped into working life by gaining experience through on-the-job training programs. He also stated that through the Job Club, the stronger participation of especially young people, women, and disadvantaged groups in the labor market is supported.
Twofold increase in social security in 24 years
Pointing out that developments in the field of social security clearly demonstrate Bartın's growth, Işıkhan reported that the number of active insured individuals, which was 26,852 in 2002, has reached 53,748 today, and registered employment has doubled in the last 24 years. Stating that 4,876 workplaces operating in Bartın have benefited from nearly 2 billion lira in incentives to date, Işıkhan said they believe these supports have made significant contributions to production, investment, and employment.
Işıkhan concluded his words by emphasizing that they trust Bartın's future:
We believe that Bartın has a very strong future ahead with its industry, tourism, port, natural resources, and entrepreneurial people. As the Ministry, we will continue to take every step to pave the way for production, investment, and employment, to strengthen working life, and to stand by our business world. A strong Bartın means a strong Western Black Sea. And a strong Western Black Sea means a strong Türkiye.
The program was attended by Bartın Governor Nurtaç Arslan, AK Party Bartın Deputy Yusuf Ziya Aldatmaz, Provincial Police Director Hüseyin Adatepe, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Senior Colonel Mehmet Baykal, AK Party Provincial Chairman Yaşar Arslan, and businesspeople.
