TMO’s grain purchases
In a written statement, Agriculture and Forestry Minister İbrahim Yumaklı said this year’s grain harvest season had been abundant and productive. Yumaklı said grain, a strategic product, was of great importance for the country’s food supply security.
The harvest completion rate reached 98.8% for wheat and 99.2% for barley.
12.1 million tonnes of produce purchased
The Turkish Grain Board is continuing its grain purchases at 769 purchasing centers. Since the beginning of the harvest season, TMO has purchased 12.1 million tonnes of produce and paid producers 170 billion liras.
Yumaklı said these figures represented new records in terms of the amount of grain purchased and payments made for produce.
Payments made from the 21st day onward
Yumaklı announced that the payment commitment made to producers at the beginning of the harvest season had been fulfilled and that payments for produce had been deposited into farmers’ accounts from the 21st day onward.
Yumaklı said TMO would continue purchasing all produce brought to it and that they would continue supporting producers.
