On April 9, 2026, despite the two-week ceasefire agreement reached between Israel, the USA, and Iran, Israel carried out its heaviest airstrike on Lebanon. It was reported that more than 250 people lost their lives and thousands were injured in these attacks. While the Israeli administration argued that the ceasefire did not cover Lebanon, Iran and Pakistan, who mediated the ceasefire, stated that the agreement covered both countries. Significant destruction occurred especially in Beirut and southern regions of Lebanon; seven major bridges were bombed, and the south of the country was isolated from other regions. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun described the attacks as 'barbaric,' while the international community's response was observed to be limited. Ramzi Kaiss from Human Rights Watch stated that the international community did not intervene effectively and that Israel's attacks continued. The attacks also affected Shia Muslim and Christian communities. As tensions and the humanitarian crisis deepen in the region, uncertainty about the scope and implementation of the ceasefire continues.
