Muharrem İnce, a member of CHP, published a two-page statement on his social media account regarding the debates that started after the court's "absolute nullity" decision. İnce evaluated the current situation within the party under the heading "This is my answer to those asking where I stand: I am with CHP."
CHP HAS FALLEN INTO A TRAP SET BY THE PALACE REGIME
In his statement, İnce said: "CHP is Turkey’s safeguard, a fortress that must not fall. If the founding party is divided, Turkey will be divided; the democratic Republic, built on equal and free individuals, will cease to exist. For this reason, CHP is a target. The government and its media are desperately trying to divide CHP. Unfortunately, CHP has fallen into a trap set by the Palace regime.
An unnecessary, meaningless, and unfortunate harsh conflict is being waged around the concepts of ‘purification’ and ‘resistance,’ leading CHP toward fragmentation. To ignore that the actions and statements fueling this conflict and dividing the party are against both CHP and Turkey, one would have to be politically blind.
"NO NEW PARTY SHOULD BE FORMED" İnce, speaking as someone who has experienced leaving CHP and then returning, said: "Friends who are disappointed in the process should follow it calmly, never abandon the struggle or the party, and avoid taking paths such as forming a separate party.
As someone who once left CHP and returned, I must sincerely tell my comrades that leaving CHP and establishing a new party is neither the right path nor a sound political decision."
"AN URGENT STATUTE CONGRESS MUST BE CONVENED" İnce emphasized the need for an urgent statute congress to overcome the party’s current situation, stating: "So what should be done?
CHP must definitely stand firm and not be divided. CHP should strengthen its position as a party of principles and public interest, becoming a party that voters will proudly support and defend. The approach of enriching through politics normalized by AKP governments and creating a capital class tied to its ideology through public resources must not find space or life within CHP.
The true owners of CHP are its members. An urgent statute congress must be convened without objection. The statute should be cleansed of articles copied from the AKP statute and restructured democratically so that the general chairman, party council, deputies, mayors, and council members are elected by party members. Democracy is based on the will of the people.
CHP, as a defender of democracy, must rely on the will of its members and derive its legitimacy from them. Then, without delay, a congress where the general chairman and party council are elected by party members must be held urgently to foil the despotic Palace regime’s trap.
"POVERTY IS NOT BEING DISCUSSED" İnce also drew attention to Turkey’s real agenda, stating: "The Palace regime has deployed CHP members to weaken and neutralize CHP during the regime change process, to cover up its failures, and to prevent discussion of the damage it has caused to Turkey by putting CHP in front of the public and CHP members in front of CHP.
Issues such as unemployment, lack of production, hunger, poverty, high prices in markets, empty pots at home, patients unable to receive treatment in hospitals, children going to school hungry, income inequality, capital transfer from the poor to the rich through inflation, the miserable pensions given to retirees, and the stolen future of our youth are not being discussed. Our political world and media are all focused on corruption operations against CHP municipalities and the absolute nullity case, living and breathing these issues.
"PURIFICATION AND RESISTANCE ARE NOT ENOUGH; WE MUST CONFRONT THE TRUTH" İnce questioned the party’s current state and said: "Purification and resistance are not enough; we must also confront how we reached this point. In conclusion: CHP is not just an election party but the founding party of the Republic.
Accordingly, CHP’s duty is not only to change the government but to change Turkey’s direction. For this, CHP must stand united with all its cadres, arm in arm, shoulder to shoulder, and with heads held high."
