A communiqué was issued after the National Security Council meeting held at the Presidential Complex under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The Council was briefed on activities carried out inside and outside the country against threats to national unity and solidarity and the country's survival, particularly from the PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETÖ and Daesh. The meeting also assessed recent international developments.
Goal of a terrorism-free Turkey
The communiqué said that progress toward the goals of a terrorism-free Turkey and a terrorism-free region had been discussed. It noted that consultations had been held on the next stages of efforts aimed at guaranteeing the security, stability and prosperity of the country and the region.
It said that the state of the fight against FETÖ had also been assessed on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the national resistance against the July 15 coup attempt. It stated that measures aimed at completely neutralizing FETÖ would continue.
Regional and global developments
The communiqué said that the NATO Summit hosted by Turkey represented a critical turning point for the future of the alliance. It noted that Turkey's constructive approach to sharing the advanced capabilities and capacities it has developed with its allies had been reaffirmed.
It drew attention to the risk that the renewed clashes between Iran and the United States could spread to countries in the region and global trade routes. The communiqué called on all parties to refrain from using force and return to negotiations for lasting peace.
It stressed that the strategic deadlock in the Russia-Ukraine war could not be overcome by turning surrounding areas, particularly the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, into conflict zones. The warring parties were urged to reduce tensions in the region and take concrete steps to establish peace.
Syria, Iraq and Gaza
It said that the multidimensional cooperation developed with Syria and Iraq was of great importance for the security, peace and prosperity of the region. It stated that Turkey would continue contributing to processes aimed at strengthening regional solidarity.
The communiqué said that ceasefire violations had continued despite progress in recent days במסגרת the Gaza Peace Plan. Assessing that the Israeli administration had intensified settler violence in the Palestinian territories and continued its provocative actions targeting holy sites, particularly Al-Aqsa Mosque, it called on the international community to adopt a clear and uncompromising stance.
