NATO allies plan to provide a total of 140 billion euros in aid to Ukraine in 2026 and 2027. The announcement was made by German Foreign Minister Johannes Wadephul in an interview with Deutschlandfunk radio ahead of the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held in Ankara.
Wadephul stated, “With Europe and Canada’s contributions alone, we can guarantee 140 billion euros for Ukraine for 2026 and next year. This will be a very strong signal of support for Ukraine.”
The German minister noted that the commitment would also demonstrate to Moscow the Western allies’ determination to continue supporting Kyiv. Wadephul noted that recent developments on the battlefield point to a new phase of the conflict, and that Ukraine has the capacity to deliver more precise strikes against Russia.
Emphasizing that the impact of Western military and financial aid is clearly visible on the battlefield, Wadephul underlined that international pressure must be further increased to bring Russia back to the negotiating table.
