Turkish F-16s and German Eurofighters have arrived in Latvia, reinforcing NATO’s air defence and helping protect Allied airspace, NATO said, describing the deployment as "a clear show of readiness, presence and collective strength."

Latvia’s Defence Ministry announced on September 17 that, at the initiative of Defence Minister Raivis Melnis, Germany, Italy and Türkiye would strengthen the protection of Latvia’s airspace during the 15th Saeima elections on October 3. Four German Eurofighters landed at Lielvārde Military Base on September 24, while Turkish F-16s deployed at Ämari Air Base in Estonia contribute to protecting Latvian airspace in parallel with their NATO tasks.
