Ömer Çelik, Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson of the AK Party, responded to certain statements made by Rahmi Koç, Honorary Chairman of Koç Holding, declaring that they condemn all forms of derogatory language directed at women.
Çelik emphasized that derogatory attitudes based on belief, ethnicity, or gender open the door to hate speech, and stressed that language concerning women must be respectful, careful, and of high quality.
Call for Respectful Language Towards Women
Çelik stated that no segment of society should be subjected to derogatory, discriminatory, or alienating speech based on their belief, ethnicity, culture, identity, or gender.
He underlined the necessity of completely avoiding incorrect expressions and noted that respectful language should be a fundamental principle when referring to women.
Reaction to the Phrase "Kurdish Woman"
Çelik described the association of the phrase "Kurdish woman" with derogatory remarks as a very wrong and ugly approach that contradicts values.
He firmly rejected this attitude, which offends Kurdish citizens and all women, and emphasized that hate speech can never be justified under the guise of humor.

Çelik stated that correcting wrong statements and offering an apology is a matter of respect.
He expressed that all segments of society should use a sensible, qualified, and respectful language regarding belief, culture, ethnicity, identity, and gender, affirming that all citizens possess equal honor, dignity, and value.
