AK Party spokesman Ömer Çelik said the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement between Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan will be sent to the Turkish parliament within a few days, after the Foreign Ministry completed its internal work. Calling it “a regional peace project,” Çelik said it has no function as an alternative to NATO and instead plays a complementary role in protecting regional and global peace.
Çelik also said President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wishes to visit Syria, adding that work between Turkish and Syrian teams is continuing but a date has not yet been set.
