Pakistan army spokesperson Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said his country’s support for Saudi Arabia’s security was unconditional. Chaudhry said Pakistan would make every effort necessary to defend the kingdom.

Commenting on attacks by the Houthis in Yemen against Saudi Arabia, Chaudhry said Pakistan stood with Saudi Arabia diplomatically and practically.
Emphasizing practical support, Chaudhry said Pakistan would make every effort requested and needed by its Saudi brothers to ensure the security of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina and Saudi Arabia.
Chaudhry said the people of Pakistan also stood with the people of Saudi Arabia, adding that his country would continue defending Saudi Arabia against all kinds of attacks.
Pakistan emphasizes negotiations
Chaudhry said Pakistan remained in constant contact with Saudi Arabia and the countries of the region. He said Islamabad was making a serious and sincere effort to resolve problems peacefully through negotiations.
Reiterating that Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security was unconditional, Chaudhry said this commitment stemmed from the deep, historic and unbreakable ties between the two peoples and the political and military leaderships of the two countries.

Drone debris kills one in Taif
Saudi authorities said Thursday that falling debris during the interception of a drone in the airspace over the city of Taif killed one person and injured two others.
Two days earlier, coalition forces supporting Yemen’s legitimate government announced that Saudi air defenses had thwarted an attempt by the Houthis to target Mecca with a drone.
Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia
The Houthis announced on July 20 that they had imposed a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia. The group described the move as a response to the maritime and air blockade imposed by Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia has led the coalition supporting Yemen’s legitimate government since March 2015. The Houthis have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and some provinces in Yemen since September 2014.
The Houthis have carried out attacks targeting Saudi-owned ships as well as energy production facilities in the country. The attacks left civilians injured and caused property damage.
