The Armenian Presidency reappointed Nikol Pashinyan as prime minister by decree on Sunday. The appointment came just hours after Pashinyan's resignation.
In the morning, after the first session of the newly elected parliament began, the government led by Pashinyan submitted its resignation. Pashinyan had stated that, in accordance with the constitution, the president would accept the resignation and that the current government members would continue their duties until a new government is formed.
Pashinyan's Civil Contract Party had won 61 of the 105 seats in the latest parliamentary elections, securing a majority on its own.
