In the touristic district of Fethiye in Muğla, the high prices listed on a restaurant's menu sparked public debate. Lahmacun was offered at 1450 TL, minced meat pide at 1500 TL, and margherita pizza at 1800 TL, drawing intense reactions on social media. Following these developments, the Ministry of Trade took action. On May 27, 2026, teams from the Muğla Provincial Directorate of Trade conducted an inspection at the establishment. During the examination, violations of the Consumer Protection Law and Price Tag Regulation were identified in 24 different products on the menu. An administrative fine was imposed on the business for each violation found. Additionally, the file prepared regarding 5 special products subject to the excessive price claim was sent to the Unfair Price Evaluation Board for consideration of additional and more severe sanctions. The Ministry of Trade announced that inspections will continue decisively to prevent consumer grievances during the holiday and tourism season. It was strongly emphasized that citizens should report any violations they encounter in price tag and menu practices to official authorities.
