President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will travel to the Qatari capital Doha to pay a condolence visit to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, following the passing of his father, former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

A statement on the matter said: "Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will pay a condolence visit to Qatar on July 14, 2026, due to the passing of the Father Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani."

It was announced that former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who had been receiving treatment for a long time, passed away yesterday at the age of 74 and was laid to rest at Lusail Cemetery in Doha. A four-day official mourning was declared nationwide due to Sheikh Hamad's passing. Former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who served from 1995 to 2013, handed over power to his son Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in 2013.
