Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek assessed the industrial production index data for June released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), highlighting the increasing share of value-added and high-tech production in industry.
Şimşek said Türkiye’s industrial production grew 1.9% in the second quarter compared with the same period last year, despite challenging conditions in the global economy.
High-tech production rises 3.9%
Highlighting developments in the technological structure of industrial production, Şimşek said production in high-tech sectors rose 3.9% year on year in the second quarter.
Minister Şimşek also said the share of medium-high- and high-tech products in manufacturing industry exports reached 44.5% as of June.
The data are significant in terms of the increasing weight of technology-intensive products in Türkiye’s export composition.

Şimşek highlights value-added production
Şimşek said the strengthening of value-added production in industry and the improvement in the export composition were concrete indicators of the transformation in Türkiye’s production structure.
Minister Şimşek said the aim was to further strengthen Türkiye’s position in global value chains through productivity-focused policies and industrial transformation programs.
Industrial production grows in the second quarter
The released data showed that Türkiye’s industry completed the second quarter with an annual increase in production despite uncertainties in global trade and external demand conditions.
Şimşek particularly highlighted that growth in high-tech sectors exceeded the increase in total industrial production.
The share of medium-high- and high-tech products in manufacturing industry exports reaching 44.5% was also one of the notable indicators of Türkiye’s efforts to increase the weight of higher value-added products in its exports.
Minister Şimşek said policies aimed at increasing productivity, supporting technological transformation in industry and strengthening Türkiye’s position in global value chains would continue in the coming period.
