Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek assessed the progress made by Türkiye’s economy in recent years. Drawing attention to the increase in per capita national income, Şimşek said, “We raised our per capita national income from $3,616 to $18,040.”
The figure of $18,040 cited in the statement is also consistent with the Turkish Statistical Institute’s gross domestic product data for 2025. According to TurkStat data, Türkiye’s economy grew by 3.6 percent in 2025, while its total economic output reached approximately $1.6 trillion in dollar terms.
Per capita GDP was calculated at $18,040 in 2025. Thus, per capita income, which stood at $3,616 in 2002, increased approximately fivefold in dollar terms.
Per capita GDP is calculated by dividing a country’s total economic output by its population. Therefore, this figure does not represent citizens’ direct annual income or average salary.
