A panel and photography exhibition titled “Turkish-Japanese Relations During the Reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II and Their Reflections Today” was held in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, with Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, president of the World Ethnosport Confederation, as the guest of honor. Türkiye's Embassy in Tokyo said the panel was held at the Tokyo Diyanet Turkish Culture Center as part of the Bâb-ı Âli Meetings, in cooperation with the Tokyo Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center, Ibn Haldun University and TUJİAD. The event examined the two countries’ deep-rooted historical relations and friendship and their reflections extending to the present day.

Hosted at the embassy
The Embassy of Türkiye in Tokyo also announced that it was honored to host Bilal Erdoğan and his delegation. During his visit to Japan, Erdoğan had earlier met with Turkish associations in Nagoya.

Contacts that began between the two countries during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II are remembered as a symbol of Turkish-Japanese friendship, together with the Ertuğrul Frigate disaster, which occurred when the vessel sank off the coast of Japan in 1890.
