Trial of Gülistan Doku murder suspect adjourned to July 21
The first hearing in the US for Umut Altaş, who is wanted via a red notice, was held online; the judge adjourned the hearing to July 21 to allow the defense attorney time to prepare.
The first US court hearing was held for fugitive suspect Umut Altaş, who is wanted via a red notice in the investigation into the murder of 21-year-old Gülistan Doku in Tunceli. Altaş, who appeared in court in an orange jumpsuit, had his hearing adjourned by the trial judge to July 21.
As part of the investigation into the disappearance of university student Gülistan Doku, the first hearing for Altaş, whose extradition has been requested from the United States, to revoke his residency rights and deport him took place online. The judge granted a postponement after Altaş's attorney, who recently entered the case, requested additional time to prepare.
