Talks on the Strait of Hormuz continue
Trump said he was closely following the negotiations and was personally involved in the process. Asked when an agreement with Iran would be signed, he replied that the process was progressing well.
Trump was also asked about assessments that an agreement with Tehran on the Strait of Hormuz was nearing completion. He said he could not say that a full agreement had been reached yet. Trump stated that the process was continuing and argued that the United States controlled the strait through the blockade.
The U.S. president nevertheless said Iran could fire on ships passing through the strait or that naval mines could come into contact with tankers.
Trump comments on the Russia-Ukraine war
Commenting on the Russia-Ukraine war, Trump argued that the Joe Biden administration had sent Ukraine large quantities of weapons and ammunition in a timely manner. He said the United States had supplied large amounts of weapons and ammunition not only to Ukraine but also to many other countries.
Trump said some of these weapons and ammunition could be reclaimed if they were needed elsewhere, adding that they had no problems meeting ammunition needs related to Iran. He noted that these stocks were replenished through daily supplies.
