Speaking at the Egyptian National Day program hosted by the Egyptian Embassy in Ankara, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said relations between Turkey and Egypt have developed on the basis of centuries-old common history, strong human ties and mutual affection.

Relations Developing in Every Field
Drawing attention to the deep-rooted ties between the two countries, Minister Bolat said, "Today we are pleased to see that our relations, rising on this solid historical ground, are rapidly developing in every field thanks to mutual political will and intensive high-level contacts. The strong will and shared vision demonstrated by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi have elevated the cooperation between our countries to the strategic partnership it deserves."
Bilateral Trade Volume Reaches $8 Billion
Bolat noted that important decisions were taken to further strengthen bilateral cooperation at the meetings of the Turkey-Egypt High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council held under the co-chairmanship of the presidents in 2024 and 2026, adding, "Egypt continues to be Turkey's largest trading partner on the African continent. In 2025, our bilateral trade volume reached $8 billion. We rank third among the countries to which Egypt exports the most with a 7.4% share, and seventh among the countries from which it imports the most with a 3.4% share."
We Are Determinedly Continuing Our Efforts
Emphasizing the new target, Bolat said, "We are determinedly continuing our efforts to advance this strong picture with a more balanced and sustainable structure and to reach the $15 billion trade volume target set by our Presidents. We believe that more effective use of the strong ground provided by our Free Trade Agreement, reducing technical and administrative barriers to trade, and increasing direct contacts between our companies are of great importance in achieving this target."
Turkish Firms' Investments in Egypt Hit $4 Billion
Bolat announced that preparations are underway for the third term meeting of the High-Level Trade Consultation Mechanism established between the Ministry of Trade and the Egyptian Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade to be held in Turkey this year. Bolat said, "Mutual investments constitute another strong pillar of our economic relations. We assess that Turkish firms' investments in Egypt have reached approximately $4 billion."
Joint Projects in Many Fields

Joint Efforts Will Be Decisive
Underlining that they attach importance to close consultation on regional issues and international platforms, Bolat said, "We believe that the dialogue and cooperation between Turkey and Egypt will make significant contributions to regional peace, stability and security, especially in the face of developments in our region. We consider that our joint efforts will be decisive in establishing peace and stability in our region in the coming period."
