Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, Press and Public Relations Advisor and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, held a briefing on the weekly activities aboard the TCG Anadolu in Antalya Bay on the Distinguished Observer Day of the Denizkurdu-2 Exercise.
Rear Admiral Aktürk stated that the Denizkurdu-2 Exercise is being conducted from June 4 to 14 in the Black Sea, Marmara, Aegean Sea, and Eastern Mediterranean to evaluate the operational command and control efficiency of our Naval Forces, enhance the reasoning, foresight, and decision-making skills of participating units in a multi-threat environment, and test interoperability procedures with other force commands.
He added, "As the largest exercise of our Naval Forces, Denizkurdu-2 includes preparatory training, live-fire exercises, logistical integration activities, and operational training in a multi-threat environment." DANGEROUS FOR THE SOUTH OF THE ISLAND
Subsequently, the ministry issued a written statement on current issues.
The statement regarding the status of forces agreement signed between France and the Greek Cypriot Administration reads: "We are closely monitoring provocations aimed at destabilizing and increasing tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The agreement signed between France, which is not a guarantor in Cyprus, and the Greek Cypriot Administration, which aims to unilaterally alter the sensitive balances on the island and disregards the will and sovereign equal rights of Turkish Cypriots, is contrary to the 1960 Cyprus Treaties and international law.
Such steps, which lack any legitimacy and whose consequences have not been carefully considered, could lead to dangerous outcomes for the southern part of the island. We once again remind that any military alliance ignoring the sensitive balances in the region and targeting the rights and interests of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has no chance of success against Turkey.
As a guarantor country, we will continue to protect the rights and interests of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and ensure its security, as we have done in the past. The Turkish Armed Forces have the strength and determination to respond firmly to hostile attitudes threatening the security of Turkish Cypriots.
