Turkey's salmon exports reached a value of $201,849,000 in the first half of 2026. According to data from the Eastern Black Sea Exporters' Association (DKİB), a total of 30,415 tons of Turkish salmon were shipped to 30 countries in the January-June period.
Turkish salmon, raised in sea cages in the Black Sea and exported after reaching a certain size, was sold mostly to Russia, Belarus, and the United States during this period.
Largest buyers
Salmon exports worth $129,492,000 were made to Russia, $31,997,000 to Belarus, and $7,478,000 to the United States.
Growth target for the second half
Hasan Kuzuoğlu, Chairman of the DKİB Aquatic Bioresources Sector Committee, said the export results for the first six months of the year are promising for the sector.
Kuzuoğlu stated, "In addition to increasing our share in existing markets, we continue to establish contacts with buyers in Southeast Asia, East Asia, the Persian Gulf, and European countries. Our goal is to make our sector more competitive and sustainable by ensuring market diversity."
Emphasizing that Russia remains the largest market for Turkish salmon, Kuzuoğlu added, "We are also continuing promotional and trade activities in alternative markets. We see high growth potential especially in Asian and European countries."
Noting that Turkish salmon has become one of the key export items of the fisheries sector in recent years, Kuzuoğlu said, "Unless a serious setback occurs, we expect to surpass last year's figures in both production and exports this year."
