Business representatives from Türkiye and Italy met for dinner in İzmir to assess trade relations between the two countries and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation.
The gathering, held on Tuesday evening, was organized under the name “Turkish-Italian Friendship Night.” The İzmir Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Italian Consulate in İzmir hosted the event.
Trade volume between the two countries
İzmir Mayor Cemil Tugay and Italy’s Consul in İzmir Daniele Bianchi, along with other guests, attended the meeting. Pietro Alba, chairman of the İzmir Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the friendship and trade relations between Türkiye and Italy were rooted in a long history.

Alba said Italian families who settled in İzmir had contributed to the city becoming one of the Mediterranean’s major ports. He said trade between the two countries had reached approximately €30 billion and noted that more than 1,500 Italian companies operate in Türkiye.

Alba announced that Türkiye and Italy aim to increase their bilateral trade volume to €40 billion by 2030.
Growth in tourism ties
Alba said tourism had also become a new and important area in Türkiye-Italy relations, adding that more than 810,000 Italian tourists visited Türkiye last year. The figure was approximately 13 percent higher than the previous year.
