Türkiye supported the decision by 12 countries to take steps toward banning trade and business ties with illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Israel’s efforts to eliminate the possibility of a two-state solution were intensifying. The ministry said the illegal settlements had become part of a systematic occupation policy threatening the existence of the State of Palestine.
Ministry calls on international community
The ministry said settler violence had reached levels amounting to ethnic cleansing. It said measures against Israel’s occupation activities were necessary for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on responsible members of the international community to adopt similar decisions. The ministry said Türkiye would continue its efforts to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Decision by 12 countries
Twelve countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Canada, had announced their intention to ban trade with the occupied Palestinian territories.
