Military officials, diplomats, academics and numerous members of the Turkish-American community attended the program held at the Residence of the Embassy of Türkiye in Washington, which was specially illuminated for Victory Day on August 30.
In speeches delivered at the program, Ambassador of Türkiye to Washington Sedat Önal and Washington Military Attaché Brigadier General Alparslan Güldal addressed the National Struggle led by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as commander-in-chief and the process that culminated in the victory of the Great Offensive.

The speeches emphasized the decisive role of the victory achieved on August 30, 1922, in the process leading to the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye. All the heroes of the National Struggle, particularly Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, were commemorated with respect and gratitude.
Önal and Güldal also offered assessments of Türkiye’s defense industry, which has made significant progress in recent years. They highlighted the importance of Türkiye’s growing defense capacity in strengthening deterrence, preventing conflicts and preserving regional peace and stability.

Ambassador Damla Güçlü, Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Washington, also attended the program.
The event also featured a short film introducing systems and technologies developed by Türkiye’s defense industry. Following the official proceedings, guests gathered for a reception at the Embassy Residence.

The program in Washington once again demonstrated that, 104 years later, the August 30 Victory continues to be one of the most important symbols of Türkiye’s struggle for independence and sovereignty.
