The Turkish Underwater Sports Federation (TSSF) announced that two Turkish records were broken at the Turkish Freediving Championship held in Kaş, Antalya.
Competing in the Master M1 age group, Istanbul Gelişim University athlete Cenk Devrim Ulusoy broke the Turkish record by diving to 70 meters in the rope-assisted constant weight discipline.
In the same age group, Birol Özbek, competing for Tenis Yüzme Kayak Spor Kulübü, set a new Turkish record by reaching 59 meters on a single breath in the constant weight bi-fins discipline.
At the ceremony held in Kaş Square, awards were presented to athletes who placed in the constant weight with fins, constant weight bi-fins, constant weight without fins, and rope-assisted constant weight disciplines.
TSSF President Kadir Sağlam said in a statement, "These achievements elevate our freediving sport to a higher level each year. We have perhaps the most beautiful diving spots in the world. With our athletes coming up through the infrastructure, I believe we will soon raise athletes who will make our country proud with their successes in these natural training areas."
