US chargé d'affaires in Ankara Alice Abdullah said that the friendship between Türkiye and the United States is very strong and that the relationship between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump is exceptionally positive.
During her visit to Hatay, Abdullah inspected work at the Antakya Greek Orthodox Church, which was destroyed in the February 6, 2023 earthquakes and whose reconstruction the United States has supported.
First visit to Hatay
Abdullah said she had begun her diplomatic assignment in Türkiye approximately two weeks earlier and announced that her visit to Hatay was her first visit in that capacity.
Describing the relationship between Erdoğan and Trump as a model for other relations between countries, Abdullah said that, as the US diplomatic mission in Türkiye, they were making intensive efforts to ensure that this positive relationship extended to all areas of their work.

100th anniversary of diplomatic relations
Abdullah recalled that 2027 will mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of official diplomatic relations between Türkiye and the United States.
She said she hoped the coming year would be used to further strengthen relations, create new areas in which the two countries could work together and advance cooperation.
