Footage of hundreds of young people gathered in the French capital, Paris, singing Charles Aznavour's famous song "Emmenez-moi" ("Take Me Away") in unison drew wide attention on Sunday. Palestinian flags waved above the crowd, and some of the young people were seen with keffiyehs draped over their shoulders.
The footage was filmed on Rue de Lappe, a street in the Bastille district known for its nightlife venues. It is not known when the recording was made, nor could it be verified whether it was filmed during student protests or at another gathering.

Student protests continue in France
The footage spread as high school and university students in France pressed on with protests over conditions in education. The movement, which began in mid-September in the Paris suburbs in response to overcrowded classrooms, run-down school buildings and teaching posts left vacant, quickly spread nationwide.

According to estimates cited by AFP, between 56,000 and 100,000 people marched in Paris on the Oct. 6 day of protest, while nationwide turnout was estimated at between 266,000 and 450,000. Teachers and unions also backed the protests.
Released in 1967, "Emmenez-moi" is known for the lines "Take me to the end of the earth, to the land of wonders." Aznavour, an artist of Armenian descent and one of the best-known names of the French chanson tradition, died in 2018 at the age of 94.
