Ankara Police Department Public Order Branch teams accelerated their operations in line with the precaution package established for the preparations of the 7-8 July NATO Summit.
In an investigation launched under the coordination of the Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that 'değnekçi' and illegal parking attendants were making unlawful profits by charging drivers for parking in front of certain streets and entertainment venues.
After examining security camera footage and victim statements, an operation named 'The Peace of the Capital is the Peace of Turkey' was launched targeting entertainment venue employees, valets, and 'değnekçi'.
Teams conducting simultaneous raids on identified addresses captured and detained 30 suspects who were found to have occupied areas designated as roadways.
In their statements at the police station, the suspects claimed they received 'tips' from drivers, not parking fees.
Ankara Police Department warned citizens, stating that charging fees under the name of parking money is illegal according to Highway Traffic Law No. 2918.
